Photographing garden birds workshop

  • Wat Tyler Country Park Pitsea Hall Lane, Pitsea, Basildon, Essex, SS16 4UH United Kingdom (map)

Continuing the successful series of workshops since 2014, we will be running a further 7 photographic workshops throughout 2018.   Each workshop will cater for a maximum of up to 8 people, (for exact numbers see each workshop page for details). These low class numbers ensure that everybody attending has the opportunity for a bit of 'one to one' guidance with the tutor.

This workshop will look at how to photograph the birds that come into your garden.  It will start with a talk on technique, equipment and setting up your feeders for the best photographs.
We then spend the rest of the session with exclusive use of the specially set up feeders and bird screen in an area not open to the public

Equipment you will need:

· A camera! DSLR, though some bridge cameras and advanced compacts may be suitable,
· A telephoto lens, at least 300mm is ideal
· A tripod (though I should have 1 or 2 to borrow)
· If it is raining and your camera/lens is not weather proof then a carrier bag or rain sleeve to keep it dry will probably be needed
· A garden chair or cushion for one of our chairs as we will be sitting a lot outside

The following may be of use but are not necessary:
· Extension tube if you have a large prime lens
· A bean bag to rest your camera/lens on

Price: £25 per person

Max number of participants: 6
